Pralines 

4 cups white sugar
1 cup white corn syrup
1 pt. whipping cream
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 lb. pecan halves

In a 4 quart kettle bring above ingredients to boil until sugar dissolves.  
Cook to firm ball stage 232 degrees on medium heat.

DO NOT STIR - take off burner

Add:
 1/2 stick butter.  (Just slice on top don't stir)  Let set 15-20 minutes.  

Add:
1/2 teaspoon almond flavoring
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Beat until creamy (by hand).  Keep scraping down the sides.  Use teaspoon to drop onto wax paper.  Takes 1 1/2 to 2 hours to make but well worth the time!

Stack in containers or baggies with wax paper between layers.
