MINUTES FROM THE FALL MEETING

The Elk County Cattlewomen enjoyed their 'Gals Day Out' November 17, 2007 gathering at the Elk Falls Café BBQ for their meeting and lunch.  President, Tobina Norris called the meeting to order.  There were 10 members present and all agreed that a brunch meeting was a good idea.

The minutes and treasurers reports were approved as read.

Thank you notes were read from Moline Shining Star 4-H for our contribution to the 4th of July fireworks, and from Tyler Kill for sponsoring his Grand Champion Beef

An invitation to the Annual Ag in the Classroom meeting was also presented.

Committee reports:

Day on the Farm:  Phyllis Osborn said it went well.

Health Fair:  Shirley Black reported this went well also.

Student Scholarship:  Travis Stroble still hasn't picked it up but he can still use it for second semester.

Crazy Days:  Barbara Clubine reported a profit of $702.29.  She also announced she is going to step down and let someone else chair this project.

Livestock Tour:  Will be in the NE section of the county including Fall River and Howard.  No date yet.

Howard Fair Booth:  Shirley Black said we need to find a place to store our display.

Howard Fair Parade:  Tobina Norris said the theme was 'Grow Up Strong with Beef' and had several children on the float.  They won 3rd place and received $45.

Longton Fair Booth:  Janet Hadlock turned in $10 for the booth display prize.

Tobina asked if we want to participate at the Elk River Festival next year.  We will discuss more at the spring meeting.

Shirley Black read an invitation to join National Cattlewomen.

New Business:  We voted to contribute an item to the KLA silent auction.

It was decided to purchase an item from the Elk Falls Pottery Shop and fill it with soap from Red Barn Soap Co., spending up to $50.

Since all officers agreed to serve another year and there were no nominations from the floor, Phyllis Osborn moved and Shirley Black seconded, to accept the present slate of officers.

  President:  Tobina Norris

  Vice Pres:  Marilyn Galvan

  Sec./Treas: Dr. Kate Perkins

We will include the Elk County Livestock Assoc. with our spring meeting.

The meeting was adjourned and several women stayed in Elk Falls to enjoy the day.

Spring Meeting Set with
Livestock Association

Spring is in the air. And so will the smell of hamburgers on the grill.

On Friday, April 27th, the Elk County CattleWomen will hold their annual Spring Meeting as a joint event with the Elk County Livestock Association. As an extra pleasure of having their company, the Livestock Association will also be cooking hamburgers on the grill. The CattleWomen will supply the side dishes of baked beans, potato salad, and veggies.  Drinks will be provided, but please bring your own table service. Families are welcome!

The location for this fun get-together and meetings will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Hall in Moline.  The meal will start at 6:00 pm, with entertainment and meetings following. The Cattlewomen will be having a general spring meeting, and the Livestock Association will be having officer elections during their meeting.  If the weather is nice, feel free to bring blankets or lawn chairs to sit outside during the meal. Also, watch for more information on the entertainment for the evening.

We would also encourage you to bring along anyone interested in becoming a part of either organization. Dues are very minimal for both organizations, and the socialization and comrade is high.

See you in the Spring!

CattleWomen Committees for 2007

There are a few of points of interest involved with this list:

Please make note of the committees you are on. We tried not to rock the boat and kept you on the same committees as last year. If you have interest in joining another group, or do not want to participate in your listed committee, please contact one of the officers.

If you are listed on a committee, please make an effort to become involved.

We have included a short description of each committee’s activities and the date when the event occurs. This will hopefully help encourage everyone to get involved with as many events as they have interest in, no matter if they’re on the committee or not. If you have questions about the committee, please contact the chair.
