We
just finished reading a novel called The Islander by Cynthia Rylant. We are
working on Fact and opinion out of the novel. The students took an AR test
over this novel. They took a comprehension test |
|
During this time I am
checking with my contact students and making parent phone calls. |
|
The 8th graders
are getting ready to start the State Writing Test. They begin testing on
February 10th, 2004. We have been working really hard the past two months in preparation
for this test. Students will get two weeks to complete this test. I am
reminding them to get plenty of rest and to eat a good breakfast each
morning. Last but not least, I am telling them to come to class with a good
attitude!! |

During this period
students read. They read AR books every Tuesday and Thursday. Every Monday
they read a magazine. On Tuesday they are allowed a free day of reading,
which means anything they want to read. Every other Friday we play Newspaper
Bingo. Once a week students are required to turn in an article summary. They
will also be accountable for two AR tests by the end of the 3rd nine
weeks. |
|
At this time students
are reviewing how to write a resume. They are in the process of typing their
own personal resume. They turned out really well. Students are also going
through the process of interview questions. We have been practicing them and
working on answering them in groups for practice. We are discussing different
kinds of interview questions and what are “good” questions and what are “bad”
questions. Mrs. Rodgers our school nurse will be visiting with us on February
13th about the career of Nursing. |
