Paraprofessionals
play a very important part in the education of our special education students
at the middle school. We are fortunate
to have a very hard working, dedicated group of paraprofessionals in our
building. Our paraprofessionals
include: Rebecca Foreman, Amanda Kepley, Tamara Hipp and Tina
Fairbanks.

8th Grade We have two reading groups this
hour. The first group is busy reading The
Crossing by Gary Paulsen. The
second group is reading Rimwalkers by Vicki
Grove. Both groups begin the hour by
reading their assigned chapter aloud with an adult. Then as a group we list the important
events from the chapter in sequential order using Flow MAPS. Both groups are doing very well with
challenging reading material! |
|
6th Grade We will be working on a variety
of skills including reading survival signs, reading in daily life, and
reading labels or recipes. We are
beginning this week with a service project for the middle school. |
|
8th Grade Study Skills Students are required to bring
their agendas daily. During class they are checked and incomplete work is
highlighted. The rest of the hour they have individual work time to complete
work or receive assistance on homework.
Please be sure your child is reading at home every night!! We are assigning a specific number of pages to be read at home each night. This is very important in order for the students to develop their reading skills as well as reach their AR goals each nine weeks. If your child has been struggling with passing AR tests, they are also required to complete flow MAPS for each chapter read. All the students have been instructed in how to complete flow MAPS and should be able to do it independently. |
