School District Information

USD No. 363's 2004-2005 enrollment is 910 students PreK-12.  These students are served by one high school with a 3A classification, one middle school and two elementary schools.  The district employs seventy-three faculty members supported by a classified staff of fifty-six.

USD 363 completed a twelve million-dollar construction project in the fall of 2002.  A new two story wing was added to the high school and a new wing was also added to the middle school. A new K-3 elementary school was built across the street from what is now the fourth through fifth grade attendance center.  The Holcomb community takes pride in the new construction and the overall quality of their facilities.

The district participates in the High Plains Educational Cooperative, which serves the special education needs of seventeen school districts in Southwest Kansas.  USD #363 is a Charter Member of the Southwest Plains Regional Service Center  which serves thirty school districts and two special education cooperatives in the area as well as regional colleges and universities.

USD 363 is in the third cycle of the QPA accreditation process.  All schools are fully accredited.

All classrooms have Internet access with  ample number of student computers.

Fiscal Information

The assessed valuation of the district is $155,045,941.  The general fund is $5,233,979  with a Local Option Budget of $1,239,218.

Community

The Holcomb community offers the advantages of small town living next to a larger metropolitan area.  Garden City and Finney County represent one of the fastest growing areas in the state.  The residents of Holcomb, located five miles west of Garden City, take advantage of all that Garden City offers while being removed from the day-to-day issues of the city.  Colorado Springs, CO, Amarillo, TX, and Wichita, KS are within four hours of Holcomb.

Finney County offers two nationally recognized golf courses, a variety of high quality ethnic dining opportunities, an excellent regional medical facility and The Lee Richardson Zoo.  The community embraces a positive diverse culture.  Life in Holcomb often centers on the activities of the school district.

Holcomb has an active Recreation Department that provides quality programs to individuals of all ages throughout the school year.  The community offers an outdoor pool while the school district has an indoor, Olympic sized swimming pool that is shared with the community.
