WHAT IS THE ACT?
The ACT is a national college admission exam which
consists of four academic areas; English, mathematics, reading and
science. The exam usually takes 4 hours
to complete and cost $30.00. Students
can take the ACT as often as he or she wishes.
Many students will take the test as a junior and then again as a senior.
If you are a college bound student you need to take the ACT.
Students need to take the following
items on the day of the test:
1. Admission ticket
2. Identification
3. Sharpened soft lead No. 2 pencil
4. Permitted calculator (visit www.actstudent.org
for more details)
Students may
NOT take the following items into the test room:
1.
Food or drink
2.
Books, dictionaries,
notes, scratch paper, or other aids
3.
4.
Any electronic device
(pager, timer, beeper, cell phone, media player, headphones and camera)
WHY SHOULD STUDENTS TAKE THE ACT?

accepted by virtually all colleges in the

3. The ACT is more than a test. It also serves as a career interest inventory
and provides scholarship opportunities.

College Visit Days Heading off to college…at
least for a visit! Juniors and seniors are each
given two excused absences to use for college visits. Many colleges and
universities offer structured visit days throughout the school year. They will also accommodate individual
appointments for tours and advising sessions.
