Both Semesters:

Classes meet on rotating days this year -- MW (Mon.-Weds.) are Linenberger and Wallace- TTh(Tues.-Thurs.) are Foster and Novack. On Fridays, 2 classes meet together for composer/music videos, folk dancing, or musical games.

Boomwhackers and/or Orff keyboard instruments are used, from time to time, with their songs.

Composers are studied at this grade level, through videos, songs, and worksheets/exams.

Musical concerts at Christmas and in the Spring (April).

Two Star Students of each nine week are chosen on cooperation in the classroom. These are one boy and one girl. They are awarded a certificate of cooperation, a school supply of some sort, and a photo of themselves.

4th Grade

Time: 12:05-12:55 p.m.

Both Semesters:

Classes are rotating this year: -- MW (Mon.-Weds.) are Stanton and Ryman – TTh (Tues.-Thurs.) are Maddux and Wolking. On Fridays, 2 classes meet together for composer/music videos, folk dancing, or musical games.

Boomwhackers and/or Orff keyboard instruments are used at various times.

Recorder (Plastic, blowing instrument) playing [2^nd semester only]. This will be on Tues. and Weds. this year, depending on what day the class comes to music.

Two Star Students for each nine weeks are the same as 5^th grade. (Refer to 5^th grade info.)

Composer Study (through videos, paperwork, and songs) on any day.

Musical Concerts are in December and April .

Kindergarten - A.M.

 Time: 8:30-8:50 a.m.

1^st--Semester: Singing songs for Holidays and Christmas Concert

2^nd-- Semester: Singing songs about Food , Dental Care, Holidays and Spring Concert

Musical games throughout the year

3^rd Grade

Time: 8:55-9:20 a.m.

Both Semesters:

Classes meet rotating: MW is Hammel – TTH are Clymer and Stoppel. ON Fridays 2 classes meet together for videos, folk dancing, and musical games.

Rhythm Instruments review and used with certain songs

Written Work: Weds. or Thurs. consisting of Notes-Rests-Music Symbols, etc.

Composer Study throughout both semesters

Cooperation Students are called Prince and Princess this year. A boy and a girl are chosen each month by their excellent cooperation in class. ( They are awarded with a certificate and a new pencil).

1^st Grade

Time: 10:45-11:35 a.m.

lst Semester: Singing of Holiday Songs and other kind of songs.

Written work on Treble Clef Sign and Treble Clef Notes

2^nd Semester: ADD: Written Work on Note Values (i.e.- whole note, half note, quarter note, etc.)

Listening Lessons of Classic Songs and about Kansas Day - "A Hoopla"

Singing more holiday songs, as well as Dental Care, and Patriotism songs

2^nd Grade

 Time: 9:50-10:40 a.m.

1^st Semester: Singing on Monday - Thursday

Fridays- Body Movement to music and Folk dances or Videos

2^nd Semester: Add: Written Work of Note Values (review)--also in 1^st semester

Listening Lessons of Mozart and Handel

Singing Songs about Valentine's Day and Patriotism and other holidays

THEME THIS YEAR: Garfield and Odie Characters

Cooperation Students: **Same as 3^rd,4^th & 5^th grades (refer to 5^th grade)
