language services for the habilitation or prevention of communicative
disorders; and the counseling and guidance of parents, students, and teachers

is the way we say our speech sounds.

The Development of
Speech Sounds In Children (ages 3 to 8)
/m, h, w, n, p/ /f, b, j, k, g, d/ /y, ing/ /t, l, j/ /sh, ch, r, s, z/ /th, blends, v/ Assessment consists of an
articulation screening or test which examines all speech sounds in the
initial, medial and final positions of words. Treatment can consist of
oral-motor exercises to train the speech helpers (tongue, lips and jaw) to be
placed in the correct position for certain sounds. The clinician provides
modeling and instruction on where to put the speech helpers as well as the
correct production of the target sound. Therapy typically begins with the
production of the sound in isolation, words, phrases, sentences, reading and
finally conversation. |
