At 6:30 p.m., Tim Miller called the meeting to order.
Jay Powers moved, seconded by Julie Chamberlain, to approve the agenda. Motion carried: 7-0
Janet Sharp moved, seconded by Mike Pfeifer, to approve the consent agenda. Motion carried: 7-0
1. Tom Lee – instrumental music (effective May 19, 2008)
2. Helena Gossett – high school paraprofessional (effective January 31, 2008)

Presentation
Russ Komlofske presented photos of the limestone state championship sign that the Holcomb Orange and Black organization purchased for the district. HOBO requested placement of the sign be between the north and main entrance of the high school facility.

Julie Chamberlain moved, seconded by Janet Sharp, to approve the request from Jannelle Robins-Gaede granting three professional days to attend the Central District AAHPERD convention in Omaha, Nebraska – March 6-8, 2008. All expenses will be covered by the organization. Motion carried: 7-0

Jay Powers moved, seconded by Tom Schuetz, to approve the bid of $5,950 for a four ton Rheem air/heat package for the bathroom area of the north gym in Holcomb Elementary. Motion carried: 7-0

Janet Sharp moved, seconded by Julie Chamberlain, to approve a three year participation agreement (effective July 1, 2008) with Kansas Joint Utility Management Program which is a natural gas purchasing cooperative sponsored by the Kansas Association of School Boards. Motion carried: 7-0

Executive Session
At 7:15 p.m., Mike Pfeifer moved, seconded by Jon Becker, to enter executive session for forty-five minutes to discuss personnel matters and negotiations after a ten minute recess. Executive session is necessary to protect the privacy rights of an individual(s) and to protect the district’s right to the confidentiality of its negotiating position and the public interest. Motion carried: 7-0
At 8:10 p.m., Mike Pfeifer moved, seconded by Jon Becker, to extend executive session for an additional thirty minutes for the aforementioned matters. Motion carried: 7-0 Robert O’Connor was included in the session.
At 8:40 p.m., Mike Pfeifer moved, seconded by Jon Becker, to extend executive session for an additional twenty minutes for the aforementioned matters. Motion carried: 7-0
At 9:00 p.m., the board reconvened in open session. Jon Becker moved, seconded by Julie Chamberlain, to adjourn. Motion carried: 7-0
